Works of modern master S.H.Raza and contemporary artist Bharti Kher are leading the race for the sale of Saffronart's, India's biggest online art auction house, set to take place Feb 12, the organisers said Wednesday.

Saffronart describes itself as one of the largest modern art auction houses for Indian art, fine art, paintings, collectibles, jewellery, prime properties and antiquities.

The auction, titled "Contemporary and Modern Indian Art", is divided into two parts: The Contemporary Day sale, which features 67 lots and Modern Evening sale, where 70 lots will go under the hammer.

In the contemporary day sale, Kher's artwork "Train'D To Kill 1" is estimated between $245,905 to 327,870 and it is created entirely out of 'bindis'.

"Kher uses them as a powerful tool to explore feminism, class, and the dichotomy of tradition and modernity," a statement said.

"Concentric bindis are perfectly aligned in rows, suggesting rigour and discipline towards achieving a goal. Viewed in conjunction with the title, the work bears sinister undercurrents, drawing from broader issues of humanity and history, it added.

Other artists in this sale include Subodh Gupta, T.V. Santhosh, Atul and Anju Dodiya, NatarajASharma, and Thukral and Tagra.

In the modern master's section, Raza's "Oasis" is estimated between $245,905 to 327,870.

"It was made in the same year the artist had begun undertaking frequent trips to India, and his understanding of what he encountered in India manifested in this work," statement said.

This sale also features works by other noted modernists including M.F. Husain, Jagdish Swaminathan, Akbar Padamsee, F. N. Souza, and Gaganendranath Tagore.
