Steel Authority of India's Bhilai Steel Plant and Tata enterprise Rallis India were on Friday awarded the CII-EXIM Bank award for Business Excellence for 2015.

"The joy and importance goes up many times when we speak of the CII-EXIM Bank Awards for Business Excellence, the most sought after and prestigious award for the last 20 years in the country," said Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah presenting the awards to the winners at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) National Quality Summit 2015.

"India needs more such brand ambassadors for enhancing the country's image as a great place to do business with, as we embark on another exciting journey of creating a new India and inviting the world to 'Come, Make in India'," he said, while inviting industrialists to invest more in Karnataka which he described as 'One State, Many Opportunities'.

Delivering responsible competitiveness by developing business excellence is the theme of the CII-EXIM (Export Import Bank of India) Bank Excellence Awards 2015 running into its 21st year.

"While Rallis India is the second time winner of the CII-EXIM Prize for business excellence, earlier having won in 2012, Bhilai Steel Plant won the prize for the first time to become the first steel plant in the country to have achieved this distinction," said a CII statement.

The awards recognise companies for their achievements in quality and business performance and also aim to raise awareness of these parameters to gain competitive edge.

"The outreach of the awards in the last 20 years has been quite impressive as over 5,000 assessors had been trained with over 500 companies receiving business excellence recognitions, nine of which were award winners," said N. Kumar, chairman of the jury of the awards.

Besides the two winners, 20 other organisations were also conferred commendation certificates for their business excellence journey.
