Noted actor Tom Alter on Thursday compared the recently-released comic entertainer "BHK Bhalla@Halla.Kom" to the iconic dark comedy "Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro".
"I have seen one of the most amazing films after a long time. BHK is a totally different craft and carries the funniest storytelling. And it reminds me of the strength and humour of 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro'," he said.
Owing to the good response from audiences and encouraging appreciation from critics, "BHK Bhalla@Halla.Kom" was recommended to be screened at the premier film institute - the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) for the acting students - on Thursday.
The film turned up as an example for the students to understand the craft of characterisation and importance of story-weaving through screenplay and dialogues and how to create intelligent, independent cinema.
'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro' was made by some of the best alumni from the institute - writer Sudhir Mishra, writer-director Kundan Shah, cinematographer Binod Pradhan, editor Renu Saluja, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Satish Kaushik.
The comedy film had numerous twists, turns and a fast-paced plot, which "BHK Bhalla@Halla.Kom" also replicates in its story revolving around a contentious property dealing, with marriage, lies, fake identities creating numerous twists and a similarly fast-paced plot.
Renowned actor couple Manoj Pahwa and Seema Pahwa, who also play a couple for the first time in the film, were present along with the director-writer-producer of the film, Rakesh Chaturvedi 'Om' at the institute.

About the experience of interacting with students, Chaturvedi said the questions posed by the students were "astounding" and he was "overwhelmed" by interacting with them. "It gives me lot of strength and now I am thinking to put my film up for the National Award nominations 2016 for a couple of categories, specially for the brilliant performance by Manoj Pahwa," he said.
"I will always try my level best to make thought-provoking family entertainers like Hrishikesh Mukharjee made and Rajkumar Hirani is making, and audience will see these efforts in my next film, tentatively titled 'Bas Aapka Aashirwaad Chahiye' and 'Sorry Chachoo'," he added.
"BHK Bhalla@Halla.Kom", which had released on February 5, had also starred Ujjwal Rana, Inshika Bedi, Yashpal Sharma and Benjamin Gilani among others.
