To mark the 67th Independence Day of India, a four-day extravaganza showcasing Indian fashion and classical and folk dances will be held at a top shopping mall in Thailand's capital Bangkok.

The "Incredible India Week", being organised by the Indian embassy in Bangkok, will be held at the Siam Paragon mall Aug 15-18.

The event will showcase contemporary Indian fashion by popular Bollywood fashion designers Joy Mitra and Vikram Phadnis, the Bangkok Post reported Wednesday.

The opening night Thursday will also feature the classical Indian dance form Bharat Natyam accompanied by Carnatic music.

A Snow Lion dance from the northeastern Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh and Royal Fables, a display of India's rich cultural heritage including textiles, paintings, jewellery and costumes, are other highlights of the event.

Thai visitors can also enjoy authentic Indian cuisine and taste the finest of teas from Darjeeling and Assam.

The "Incredible India Week" is being held to promote the historical and cultural ties between India and Thailand.
