Athletic Bilbao midfielder Raul Garcia will miss between nine to 16 games after a suffering a fracture in the medial collateral ligament of the right knee last Saturday's La Liga match against Sevilla.
Bilbao said in a statement on Monday that the MRI which the 29-year-old Spanish international has undergone showed that the rest of anatomical structures of the knee have not been affected by the injury, reports Efe.
Based on the medical calculations on this type of injury, and taking into account similar cases, like Lionel Messi, Garcia will be away between an average of a month and half to two months; however, the exact period is yet to be officially announced by the club.
In the next month and a half or two months, Bilbao will play between six to nine La Liga games; one to five in the Copa del Rey matches, and two Europa League games against Olympique Marseille.
