It was the coldest morning this December in the national capital on Thursday with the minimum temperature dropping to 4 degrees Celsius, four notches below the season's average, the Met said.

A cold wave continued in the city for the third consecutive day as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast at least two more days of severe cold condition.

Temperature across north India is in the grip of a cold wave, an IMD official told IANS. Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan were also experiencing similar biting cold.

"The sky will remain clear through the day. There was mist and shallow fog in the morning," the IMD official said. The maximum temperature was likely to hover around 22 degrees Celsius. The humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 94 per cent.

Wednesday's maximum temperature was 22.4 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the year, while the minimum was 5.1 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal.
