The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party's ally, the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) on Thursday expressed its unhappiness over a host of issues, including the state government's domicile policy and law and order in Jharkhand.
The AJSU has four legislators in the assembly. State Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister Chandraprakash Chowdhary belongs to the AJSU, which rules the state with the BJP.
AJSU supremo and former Deputy Chief Minister Sudesh Mahto said his party had already apprised Chief Minister Raghubar Das of its views on the domicile policy but no changes have been accordingly made.
"The BJP-led government should not impose its decisions on the people. There is a clear difference of opinion among the people and this government over the issue of domicile," Mahato said.
Mahto said the state's people have lost faith in the police after various incidents and demanded a high-lvel probe into the suicide of Topchanchi police station in-charge Umesh Kachap and custodial death of tribal youngster Rupesh Swansi in Bundu police station.
The AJSU has directed its legislators to adopt a firm approach in the assembly's monsoon session beginning from Friday over the domicile policy, reservation and migration of labourers.
The AJSU has also demanded an independent probe into a sting operation, allegedly involving the Chief Minister, his political adviser Ajay Kumar and a senior police officer, regarding the 2016 Rajya Sabha elections.
On July 16, the opposition Congress and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha called for Raghubar Das's resignation on the charge of rigging the June 11 Rajya Sabha polls as purportedly shown in some video and audio recordings that surfaced the previous day.
Reacting to the AJSU stand, Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Saryu Rai said: "If the AJSU has any suggestion over the domicile policy, it should submit its suggestions to the state government."
