The BJP Tuesday said its leaders were in constant touch with L.K. Advani, who has quit all party posts, and were hopeful of resolving the crisis soon.
"All leaders are in touch with him and we are hopeful that the crisis will be resolved soon and the BJP will emerge stronger," BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar told reporters.
Javadekar said the Congress and some others were needlessly dragging the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) into the controversy.
"RSS has not issued any directive ... and has only said that this (Advani's resignation) is unfortunate and must be resolved immediately," he said.
Advani Monday gave up all his posts in the Bharatiya Janata Party, a day after Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was named to head the BJP's next Lok Sabha election campaign committee.
