The Odisha BJP on Saturday launched 'Mahasampark Abhiyan' to meet the thousands of new party members.

The party claimed that it has inducted about 31 lakh members in the state against the target of 40 lakh members.

"Organisational leaders and BJP workers will go door-to-door to contact the persons, who were included in the party in three months," Odisha in-charge Arun Singh told media persons here.

He said the new members would be introduced to the party's ideology and various developmental programmes of the central government.

They would be trained between August and October about their role in the party, he added.

Singh exuded confidence that the drive will strengthen the party from the grassroots level in the state.

The party performed badly in the recently concluded civic polls despite the claimed induction of 31 lakh members into its fold. The party leaders attributed the defeat to the weak organisation at grassroots level.
