BJP leads in early trends in Haryana

The BJP was leading over others in early trends of counting of votes available Sunday from 90 seats in the Haryana assembly elections.

As per the available trends, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was ahead on 30 assembly seats. It was followed by the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) which was leading in eight seats.

The ruling Congress was leading in just three seats while others led in three more seats.

Counting of votes for the 90 assembly seats in Haryana began Sunday morning.

The counting will decide the fate of 1,351 candidates, including 116 women. Polling for the 90 assembly seats took place Oct 15.

 

A record 76.54 percent of Haryana's 1.63 crore electorate had voted in the assembly polls this time.

Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Shrikant Walgad said that the counting started at 8 a.m. under tight security arrangements.

The counting was going at 90 centres across 57 locations in Haryana, he added.
