Leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and mentor organisation Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) met here Thursday and discussed the social and economic situation prevailing in the country, BJP president Rajnath Singh said.
The meeting, which was attended by members of BJP's parliamentary board including Rajnath Singh, Narendra Modi and Sushma Swaraj and Suresh 'Bhaiyaji' Joshi of the RSS, was expected to discuss the strategy for 2014 general elections as well as the prime ministerial candidate.
However, the BJP chief said that no political issues were taken up.
"Such meetings take place at regular intervals. We discussed social, economic and security scenario in the country," Rajnath Singh said.
"No political issues were discussed," he said.
Asked if the meeting discussed BJP's prime ministerial candidate, Rajnath Singh said that decision will be taken by BJP's parliamentary board at an appropriate time.

BJP veteran L.K. Advani was, however, missing from the meeting.
Rajnath Singh said he had some other engagements.
"Advaniji had to leave for a condolence meet of a party leader, who was murdered in Tamil Nadu," Rajnath Singh said.
The meeting lasted more than five hours.
"The kind of situation that is there in the country today, even five hours would not be enough to evaluate it," Rajnath Singh added.
