The election management committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Delhi unit Wednesday held a meeting here to discuss preparations for the upcoming assembly polls, party officials said.

"We discussed all issues related to the successful management of the upcoming Delhi (assembly) election and also took note of the shortcomings in the last election (December, 2013)," a BJP leader said.

BJP's Delhi unit chief Satish Upadhyay, six of the seven Delhi MPs along with some legislators and office bearers attended the meeting. BJP's Delhi in-charge Prabhat Jha was also present.

The party's media cell too had a meeting in the afternoon to discuss the same issue.

Delhi has been under President's rule since Feb 17 following the resignation of chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, who headed a minority Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for 49 days.

The December 2013 assembly election in Delhi threw up a fractured mandate.

All the three major parties in the capital - the BJP, the AAP and the Congress - are gearing up for fresh polls in Delhi.
