BJP's Odisha unit for consensus on state chief

The BJP's Odisha unit on Sunday started the process for holding organizational election while stressing the need for a consensus candidate with mass appeal for the state president's post.

Leaders of the state unit held a meeting at the party headquarters here in connection with the organisational polls and it was decided that the process will be completed by third week of January.

"Following the direction of national BJP president Amit Shah, the party is trying to elect a candidate on consensus basis," said incumbent K.V. Singhdeo.

Bharatiya Janata Party's national secretary Suresh Pujari said there would be "Nabakalebar" (revamp of organsiation) in the New Year and the party will get its new president.

 

BJP's Odisha in-charge Arun Singh said while election of the district presidents would end by January second week and the state president would be elected by third week.

According to sources, preliminary process for election of 32 district presidents, out of total 37 organisational districts, have been completed.

Party sources said the remaining process will be completed by the month end.
