The Delhi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday sought Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung's intervention in ensuring the tabling of the Jan Lokpal Bill by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in the upcoming winter session of the Delhi assembly.

BJP legislator Vijender Gupta met Jung and apprised him of his party's stand on some issues.

The party also demanded that the Fourth Delhi Finance Commission Report be placed in the assembly during the session beginning on November 18.

"The Delhi government is strategically dilly-dallying introduction of these bills in the assembly. The BJP delegation also expressed concern about the efforts of Kejriwal government to dilute Lokayukta Act to make it toothless," a statement quoted Vijender Gupta.

"The Delhi government wishes to scuttle tabling of the Fourth Delhi Finance Commission Report by expressing its intent to seek the recommendation of the central government on its implementation," the statement added.

Jan Lokpal was one of the big ticket poll promises of the AAP. In his first tenure as the chief minister in 2013-14, Kejriwal had resigned over his failure to have the bill tabled.
