The BJP Thursday took a dig at the Congress over the government's decision to approve two central universities in Rae Bareli, the parliamentary constituency of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, stating that the party does not look beyond a family.
Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Prakash Javedkar said that sanctioning of projects to Rae Bareli was "no news".
He said the Congress does not look beyond the Gandhi family in naming and sanctioning projects and does not remember its own leaders including former prime ministers Lal Bahadur Shastri and P.V. Narasimha Rao.
"They cannot look beyond a family," he said.
The union cabinet Thursday approved approved setting up of the Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University and the Indira Gandhi National University for Women at Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh.
