The BJP will soon elect a leader of its newly elected legislators, party leader J.P. Nadda said Wednesday, but he didn't reveal who the chief minister will be.

"We are going to form the government in Jharkhand," Nadda told the media, a day after the BJP and its ally All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) secured a majority in the 81-member assembly.

"This is the first time since the creation of the state (in 2000) that a pre-poll alliance or political party has won such a big majority," he said after a meeting of the BJP parliamentary board here.

Nadda said a meeting of BJP legislators in Jharkhand would be called and a leader appointed after consultations. He would attend the meeting.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has won 37 seats and the AJSU four.
