The BJP will launch a state-wide agitation against the Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh accusing it of being anti-people, a party spokesman said Tuesday.

An action plan is being drawn against the anti-people, anti-farmer and anti-poor government led by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and the agitations will be launched in a phased manner, state spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said.

He said that at a meeting chaired by state unit chief Laxmikant Bajpayi Monday, it was decided the party would collect and collate the details of its ongoing membership drive March 2 and 3 in every district.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also decided to contest the three-tier panchayat polls scheduled for October this year, state leaders said.

In the month of March, the party will hold demonstrations at tehsil and block levels and take up issues such as failing law and order, state government's anti-farmer policies and the indifference of the state government towards growing corruption in the state, Pathak said.

The agitation will be expanded to the district level in April and in May it will be taken up at the divisional levels and later culminate into a state-wide agitation.
