The students of KPB Hinduja College here on Wednesday gifted blankets and stationary to orphaned children to help them celebrate the festival of Diwali and feel the joy of love and sharing.
During the initiative-- Lighting a Smile-- led by the college students, 40 new blankets were given to the kids of Bandra East Community Orphanage. Apart from that, stationary items such as geometry boxes, pencils, pens etc were also distributed among them.
Commenting on the initiative, Principal of KPB Hinduja College, Dr Minu Madlani, said, "While Diwali is a festival where everyone buys new things for themselves, the students of KPB Hinduja College believed that 'Happiness doubles when you share it with someone'."
"With that aim in mind, the NSS unit of the college collected contributions from the teachers and staff with which they brought prizes, gifts and refreshments to help the orphanage kids celebrate Diwali."
"The students are not taking up such initiatives merely for marks, but this is something that is a part of the value system followed by the college to connect and give back to the society," she added.
Students also held competitions to let kids win prizes and organised games to entertain them.
