Suspected militants triggered a blast close to the residence of Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh in Imphal Wednesday evening, police said. There was no injury due to the explosion
"The blast took place around 6.30 p.m. at Palace Compound, which is about 200 metres from the chief minister's official residence," said a police officer.
Preliminary investigation revealed that an improvised explosive device was used, police said.
A coordination committee of six militant outfits of Manipur known as Cor Com has called for a boycott of Independence Day and a shutdown on the day.
