At least three people were seriously wounded in a bomb blast near Yemeni president's house in the port city of Aden Saturday night, a police official said.

"Initial reports indicated that an Improvised Explosive Device planted in the backyard of a house belonging to President Abd- Rabbu Mansour Hadi in Aden's neighbourhood of Khor Maksar caused the blast," Xinhua quoted the police official as saying.

The building's outside wall was smashed and the wounded people were rushed to the nearest hospital.

There was no immediate report of any casualty.

"The blast had partially destroyed the back wall of Hadi's house," and that " Saturday's attack is the continuation of a series of coward terrorist operations conducted by Al Qaeda."

No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
