German automaker BMW Group recorded its best ever quarterly sales volume and net profit figures between April and June, it said on Tuesday.
The group sales volume in the second quarter climbed 5.7 per cent to 605,534 units, making the total sales in the first half year to reach a new high of 1,163,139 units, a year-on-year growth of 5.8 per cent, Xinhua news agency cited a statement as saying.
The group's revenue rose by 4.5 per cent to 25 billion euros ($28 billion) in the second quarter. The six-month revenue increased by 2.3 per cent to 46 billion euros.
"We sold more vehicles in the second quarter than ever before and achieved record earnings. We are growing profitably while simultaneously implementing our strategy step by step," said Harald Krueger, chairman of the board of management.
