The bodies of two troopers of Assam Rifles killed in a bomb attack in Manipur were flown to their respective states on Tuesday, officials said.
Chief minister N. Biren Singh and senior security officers paid floral tributes to Riflemen Inder Singh and Shohan Lal at a simple function at the Imphal airport.
The two men were killed and six others wounded in a militant attack on Monday at Chandel in Manipur's border district.
Speaking briefly on the occasion, Biren Singh said: "We strongly condemn the dastardly act of exploding the bomb. Combing operations are on to nab the culprits. They will be booked and brought to justice."
Meanwhile, the People's Liberation Army, the military wing of the Revolutionary People's Front, has claimed responsibility for the killings.
Informed sources fear that the insurgents may have escaped to Myanmar after carrying out the attack.
