Marcelo Moreno is free to play for Flamengo against Gremio Saturday after both clubs agreed to break a contractual clause preventing the Bolivian striker's involvement.
The 26-year-old had been barred from the match under terms of his season-long loan deal from Gremio, who still own his economic rights, O Globo reported Friday.
But he is now free to play after Flamengo offered to pay the Porto Alegre club a $120,000 fee.
"It would be disrespectful to him if we didn't give him the chance to play," Flamengo coach Mano Menezes said.
"We are showing him how important he is to our group, just like all of the other players are."
Moreno, who has previously had spells at Shakhtar Donetsk, Werder Bremen and Wigan Athletic, has scored five goals from 14 starts since his April move to the Rio de Janeiro club.
