Jamaican sprint legend Usain Bolt has stressed that the sport of athletics needs him to win in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

In an interview to French newspaper Le Parisien on Saturday, when he qualified for the 100 metres semi-finals in Rio, the two-time reigning Olympic champion said he knows that athletics needs him to win here and to be the best, reports Efe.

He also said it was his personal desire to remain among the world's greatest sprinter.

The Jamaican added that every time the Olympic Games are held, it feels as a decisive moment for him, and this is what he exactly feels in Rio.

Bolt, 29, is currently looking forward to his third consecutive Olympic triumph, after those in Beijing 2008 and London 2012, in the 100m, 200m sprints and the 4x100m relay.
