Bopanna-Qureshi knocked out of Australian Open

Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, popularly called the India-Pakistan Express, were knocked out of the third round of the Australian Open by 12th seeds Treat Huey of the Philippines and Dominic Inglot of Britain here Sunday.

Huey-Inglot beat the seventh seeds 6-4, 7-6 (7/1) in an hour and 19 minutes at the Show Court 2 to advance to the quarter-finals.

The Filipino-British pair were exceptional on their first serve, winning 88 percent of points. They hit 17 winners to their opponents' 12.

The second set was a tighter affair as the Bopanna-Qureshi got a handle on their opponents' serve and themselves won 79 percent of the points on first serves.

 

However, 18 winners for the 12th seeds to the India-Pakistan team's 13 proved to be the difference as they won the tie-break easily to close out the match.
