Stealing a coconut cost a 14-year-old boy his life when he was fatally beaten up by an auto-rickshaw driver in Delhi, police said Monday.
The accused driver Shohan Lal, in his 30s, was arrested Sunday night for his brutal act, a police officer said.
The teenaged victim, Sooraj, was beaten up by the accused Sunday in Govindpuri area of south Delhi after the driver caught him red-handed while he was stealing a coconut from his auto-rickshaw.
After the incident, Sooraj went his house in Govindpuri but his condition deteriorated in a few hours.
He was taken to a hospital by his parents but he died of his injuries, police said.
"On way to the hospital, the boy told his parents about the incident. The accused was arrested on the basis of the statement by the victim's family," the officer added.
