A 10-year-old boy was killed and 59 people were wounded in celebratory firing in Pakistan's port city of Karachi during the country's Independence Day celebrations, officials said.
The Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre received 33 people, including women and children, with bullet wounds. The boy, identified as Subhan Abid, died during treatment, a doctor told the Dawn.
The boy was injured in Landhi area, police said. An 18-year-old suspect has been arrested for the firing.
The Abbasi Shaheed Hospital said it received 19 wounded people, including nine women, victims, with bullet injuries. Seven people with gunshot wounds were taken to the Civil Hospital.
