Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday assigned a new task to the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), asking it to impart soft skills training to policemen across the country and identify exceptional police officials at district level so they could serve as role models for others.

At a meeting here, he also urged the BPR&D -- which conducts its research to study crime patterns, policing and other related aspects -- to provide training skills to the policemen to prevent cyber crimes and meet the challenges of changing crime scenario.

"BPR&D should work towards imparting soft skills training to all the policemen in the country.
