Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has named Atletico Madrid defender Miranda among seven reserves for the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

The 29-year-old former Sao Paulo centre-half will be joined by his Atletico teammate Filipe Luis, who is on standby at left-back, reports Xinhua.

Bayern Munich right-back Rafinha was also named, as was Liverpool's Lucas Leiva, Paris Saint-Germain's Lucas and Fluminense goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri.

The biggest surprise was the inclusion of 25-year-old centre-forward Alan Kardec, who last month signed with Sao Paulo from local rivals Palmeiras.

Those overlooked for Scolari's standby list include former FIFA world player of the year winners Ronaldinho and Kaka, AC Milan winger Robinho and Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho.
