BRICS nations affirm sharing information on migration

BRICS countries have jointly affirmed to exchange views and share experience on migration issues, an official release said here on Friday.

The affirmation came at a meeting of the first BRICS (Brazil, Russia, india, China, South Africa) ministerial meeting on migration held in Russia's Sochi on Thursday.

The Indian ministerial delegation was led by Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju.

The BRICS nations after detailed deliberations, issued a joint declaration which said that they could affirm to the interest of BRICS countries in exchanging views and sharing experience on migration issues, acknowledge the interrelationship between transnational migration and reaffirm the openness of the BRICS to deepen collaboration with other countries, international and regional organizations.

 

The declaration also said that the countries would acknowledge the impact of migration to the social and economic development and demographic situation in the BRICS countries and express the interest of BRICS countries in sharing best practices in the development and implementation of national migration policies or procedures.
