Britain withdrew on Monday the candidature of its candidate for the International Court of Justice, paving the way for the election of India's Dalveer Bhandari.
In letters to the Presidents of the Security Council and the General Assembly, Britain's Permanent Representative announced the withdrawal of Christopher Greenwood's candidacy citing the "close relations" between the United Kingdom and India.
