Two men found guilty of funding a suspect in the Paris and Brussels terror attacks, were handed down jail sentences of eight and three years by a London court on Monday, media reports said.
A court in Kingston, south London, sentenced Mohamed Ali Ahmed to eight years in prison and Zakaria Boufassil to three years after the pair were found guilty of supplying 3,000 pounds ($3,540) to Mohamed Abrini, a man with suspected involvement in the 2016 Brussels airport attack, reports Efe.
The two accused had met with Abrini, nicknamed "the man in the hat" after he was caught on a CCTV camera in Brussels on the day of the attacks wearing a hat, at a park in Birmingham, England.
According to the court, the money was transferred to an account opened by an unidentified man who had travelled to Syria to join the Islamic State (IS).
Abrini has suspected links to the terror attacks at Brussels airport and metro system in March 2016 that left 32 people dead.
He was also suspected of involvement in the November 13, 2015, Paris attacks that claimed the lives of 130 people.
