Brussels Airport to intensify passengers screening for Ebola

Brussels Airport authorities Friday said they would increase screening of passengers coming from Ebola-affected countries.

The Brussels Airport Company would set up a specialised section to handle baggage coming from countries particularly affected by the deadly virus, Xinhua quoted a company statement as saying.

The airport said it would work closely with the federal health services to curb the spread of Ebola, which has so far not reached Belgium.

It said it would respond to staff fears by introducing more stringent baggage handling procedures from flights from countries largely affected by the virus, such as Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

Luggage from affected areas would be inspected by a specialist company to check for leaking liquids. Intact luggage will follow the normal process while the luggage that has leaks will be destroyed, the airport said.
