BSE's India INX's highest daily turnover crosses Rs 1,700 cr

Stock exchange major BSE said its wholly-owned subsidiary India International Exchange (India INX) witnessed an all-time high turnover of over Rs 1,700 crore or $263.90 million on Wednesday.

According to a BSE statement, the highest daily trading turnover was achieved by the India INX at the end of the morning trade session at 5 p.m. (IST). The evening session of nine and a half hours begins from 5 p.m. and goes on till 2.30 a.m.

The exchange operates 22 hours every day, opening with the Japanese markets and closing with the Chicago markets.

"This is the highest daily trading volumes recorded by the exchange since inception, accounting for 75 per cent of the total trading volumes in Gift City," the statement said.

 

It added that the cumulative turnover on the India INX since inception is approximately $10 billion.

"India INX has witnessed significant progress in trading volumes, since we commenced operations on January 2017," said V. Balasubramaniam, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, India INX.

"This reflects the increasing interest in the IFSC (international financial services centre) amongst the broking fraternity and also the efforts put in to build out the exchange ecosystem."
