The Border Security Force (BSF) has recovered smuggled Bangladeshi currency amounting to over 10 lakh rupees (Takka 12 lakh) from Hatkhola in West Bengal's Nadia district, according to a statement on Thursday. No one was arrested.
BSF troopers conducted a special operation in the open field area of village Hatkhola on Wednesday and observed the suspicious movement of a person coming from Indian side with a hand bag.
"The operation party seized the hand bag, and found Taka 12 lakh in it. The notes were found in the denominations of 1000, 500 and 100," the BSF official said.
The seized currencies were being handed over to the Customs Office for further legal action.
During 2018, South Bengal Frontier BSF has seized foreign currency worth about Rs 76.59 lakh and apprehended four Indian smugglers.
