The Border Security Force (BSF) has seized 45 kg of ganja (cannabis) from near the Bangladesh border in West Bengal, an official said on Sunday.
The cannabis was seized from a house in Hugulberia village in Nadia district near the international border on Saturday night.
"During a raid in the house of one Kamal Kaviraj, we seized 45 kg of ganja and 5 kg of bhang. Kaviraj, the owner of the house, however, managed to flee," a BSF officer said.
In a similar raid, the BSF seized 15 kg of ganja from a house in Kumari village in the district on Thursday.
The force, so far in the year, has seized nearly 570 kg of ganja and apprehended three smugglers from the across the South Bengal frontier.
