German football club VfB Stuttgart on Tuesday announced the dismissal of head coach Alexander Zorniger with immediate effect.
Three days after the surprising 0-4 loss to bottom side FC Augsburg in the Bundesliga, Stuttgart reacted with the dismissal of Zorniger, who took the reins in May after putting pen to paper on a three-year deal, reports Xinhua.
"Especially how we lost last Saturday gave us to think. We analysed the impact of the defeat on the team and coaching stuff and came to a decision this morning," Stuttgart president Bernd Wahler said.
As a consequence, Zorniger as well his assistants have been dismissed with immediate effect.
Stuttgart's Under-23 coach Juergen Kramny will take the helm until further notice.
Stuttgart sit currently on the 16th place, a relegation play-off spot, with just three wins, one draw and nine defeats from 13 games.
