BSES Yamuna Power Ltd (BYPL), one of the capital's three distribution companies (discoms), on Wednesday announced that a special Lok Adalat to settle power theft cases in east and central Delhi will be held on January 14 and 15.
Noting that it will be the "last chance for amicable settlement of power-theft cases", BSES in a statement here said: "The maximum numbers of cases are from Daryaganj division followed by Yamuna Vihar, G.T. Nagar, Paharganj, Nand Nagri and Chandni Chowk divisions."
"Over 31,000 letters/notices have been sent to BYPL customers/litigants with regards to the Lok Adalat," it added.
The Lok Adalat is being organised by Delhi Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and BYPL at two premises simultaneously -- District Court, Karkardooma and the permanent Lok Adalat Building, ITO, Near Mata Sundari College, the statement said.
The two-day Lok Adalat will provide BYPL customers in east and central Delhi a one-time opportunity for an amicable and on-the-spot settlement of cases relating to direct theft and meter tampering.
"Customers desirous of settling their power theft cases can either attend in person or through their authorised representatives," the statement said.

As per its environment friendly policy, BRPL has decided to make proceedings at the Lok Adalat a paperless affair.
"There will be no physical movements of files and all relevant case documents and files will be accessed through computers deployed for the purpose. The two-day paperless Lok Adalat is expected to save over 30,000 A4 (page) sheets," the statement said.
To reduce the response time to dispose off cases, a total of 18 Courts will be set up for the purpose, the discom said.
Underlining that it would be the "last opportunity" to settle power theft cases, BSES said: "In case of a default, the company will be compelled to initiate criminal proceedings against these consumers under the relevant provision of Electricity Act, 2003."
