The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Wednesday approved six-laning of portions of the National Highway-2 (NH-2) in Bihar and Jharkhand, estimated to cost Rs.4,918.48 crore.
An official release said the CCEA, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, gave its approval for "six-laning of Aurangabad-Bihar/Jharkhand border-Barwaadda section on NH-2 in Bihar and Jharkhand".
"The cost is estimated to be Rs.4,918.48 crore, including cost of land acquisition, resettlement and rehabilitation and other pre-construction activities. The total length of the road will be approximately 222 km," the release said.
It said the main object of the project is to expedite the improvement of infrastructure in Bihar and Jharkhand and reduce the time and cost of travel.
