The government Thursday cleared a draft bill for creation of the Telangana state having 10 districts, said union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde.
"The bill has been passed by the cabinet and has been sent to the president for his assent," Shinde told reporters after coming out of the cabinet meet, chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
"The government will make special efforts to ensure equitable dignity and opportunity for the people of the state. Special care will be taken by the government to set up economic and social stability," he added.
"The government will make special efforts towards the social and religious institutions of the state," he added.
