Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti Tuesday criticised the calling off of the India-Pakistan foreign secretary level talks, saying the "aggressive posture" of the Narendra Modi government is "not a mature reaction".
Speaking to Times Now television channel, Mehbooba, the Anantnag MP, said that good ties between India and Pakistan "is good for both the countries... We have been fighting against each other and gained nothing. It has a deep effect on Jammu and Kashmir relations, and the people have suffered a lot."
"I think it is wrong and it should not have happened," she said on the Aug 25 talks being called off over the Pakistani envoy meeting Kashmiri separatists.
"It is an aggressive posture of the NDA government, it is not good. It is not a mature reaction, and talks should not have been suspended...The signal it has given to Jammu and Kashmir and to the world is not a good signal."
