The Delhi government will set up 13 camps across the city Feb 23-28 to speed up the process of issuance of learner's licences for e-rickshaw drivers.
"The transport department has decided that the process of issuing learner's licences to e-rickshaw drivers and owners needs to be expedited. Therefore, we will set up the camps," state Transport Minister Gopal Rai said.
"We will focus on spreading awareness (about these camps) with the help of pamphlets, radio ads and newspaper notices," he said.
The camps would be set up at 13 motor licensing offices including Mall Road, Sheikh Sarai, Sarai Kale Khan, Raja Garden, Janakpuri and Vasant Vihar.
Rai said he would be "personally monitoring" the camps and the numbers may be increased, if needed.
"We want that e-rickshaw drivers should have the right to earn their livelihood and for that they must get learning licences on time," Rai said.
Rai said one rickshaw each will be allotted to licence holders to keep a tab on monopolisation of operations.
