'HCG Pinkathon - Run to Lead', India's first ever 10-km run for women, will take place here Sep 15 to create awareness about breast cancer.
The event will be organised by Maximus Events, an event management company run by ace model fitness enthusiast Milind Soman together with Reema Sanghavi.
"I believe we as a populace should do whatever it takes to raise awareness about breast cancer and keep it at bay. I am confident that the people of New Delhi will support the cause with full vigour, helping us spreading awareness about breast cancer while raising adequate funds to fight the ailment in our country," Milind said.
It is estimated that one in 22 Indian women has the lifetime probability of developing breast cancer.
In India, the number of new breast cancer cases is reportedly about 115,000 per year and this is expected to rise to 250,000 new cases per year by 2015.
Former Miss India Gul Panag feels that in today's time and age, raising awareness about health ailments is crucial.

She said that she appreciates Milind's efforts.
"Both Milind and I are runners and actors, but what Milind is doing, I can never think about it. I am happy, I am a part of the initiative and for this, I thank Milind and its co-sponsor Maximus Events," she added.
Gul also said that HCG Pinkathon will go a long way in educating people about the causes and prevention of a much-neglected condition like breast cancer.
The first ever Pinkathon was held in Mumbai in the year 2012 follwed by Bangalore next year. Organised primarily as a 10 km run, Pinkathon is now spread across 12 Indian cities, including New Delhi, Hyderabad, Chandigarh and Pune.
More than 6,000 women of all ages and from all walks of life participated in the events in previous editions.
