Five Delhi Traffic Police personnel were injured -- two of them suffering fractures -- when a speeding car hit them at a barricade here early Monday, police said.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Hemchand and Head Constable Narender were admitted to a private hospital with multiple fractures while constables Vineet, Pradeep and Vineet were discharged after first aid.

Car driver Dinesh Sharma, whose wife was also injured, was arrested on charges of rash and negligent driving.

Sharma's Santro car hit the policemen at a police barricade in north Delhi's Civil Lines area at 2 a.m. The couple's two children were also in the car.

Police said Sharma lost control over his vehicle while overtaking a truck parked on the roadside.
