Sport's leading court on Thursday confirmed the decision of the football federation in Romania that deemed Viitorul as local league champions.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) confirmed the decision made by the executive committee of Romania's soccer federation on June 5, to award the title to Viitorul and to give second place to FCSB, formerly known as Steaua Bucarest, reports Efe.
On the final day of the finals, Viitorul won 1-0 over Cluj, and FCSB defeated Craiova 3-0, so both teams collected the same points.
FCSB claimed that the head-to-head record had to be taken into consideration, in the regular season as well as the finals, which, as they considered, makes them champions, but CAS rejected their appeal.
