The CBI has arrested two persons, including an official working in an SDM's office, on charge of demanding and accepting Rs 40,000 as bribe for clearing a construction-related file, an official said on Wednesday.
Rafi Ur Rehman, a data entry operator, employed at the Sub-Divisonal Magistrate's office in north Delhi's Civil Lines area, was arrested along with private person Kapil Dev during a raid on Tuesday by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials.
The CBI booked the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
"We conducted raids on the basis of complaint against Rehman for demanding the bribe. We caught the accused red handed," a CBI official said.
He said the CBI on Wednesday also conducted searches at the office of Rehman and the residential premises of both the accused, leading to recovery of incriminating documents.
