The CBI on Saturday conducted searches at various places in Himachal Pradesh and Delhi in connection with the preliminary enquiry in a case against Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh for alleged corruption.

"The preliminary enquiry against Virbhadra Singh, the then union minister and others, regarding allegations of possession of disproportionate assets has been converted into a regular case of alleged disproportionate assets under the Prevention of corruption Act," a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) official said here.

"Searches were conducted at 11 locations in Himachal Pradesh and Delhi," the official added.

In June, the CBI initiated a preliminary inquiry against Virbhadra Singh and his family over allegations of corruption and acquiring assets disproportionate to their known sources of income during his tenure as the union steel minister.
