A CBI court here on Monday directed former Haryana Chief Minister O.P. Chautala's son Abhay Chautala, who is an accused in a disproportionate assets case, to obtain permission from it for any overseas travel in the future.
CBI Special Judge Sanjay Garg allowed an exemption application of Abhay and said: "In view of the aforesaid reasons, the exemption application of the accused is allowed. In future, if the accused is going abroad, he will seek the permission of the court."
Abhay went to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil to attend the Olympic Games without seeking permission of the court.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court admitted there was indeed no condition in his bail order that required Abhay to seek permission of the court before leaving the country.
Last week, Abhay through his counsel sought an exemption from personal appearance on the ground that he had gone to Rio de Janeiro for the Olympics.

The court then asked how could he leave the country without its permission, and sought a reply from the defence and prosecution counsel.
Abhay's counsel informed the court that being a sports administrator and former President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), he had gone for the Olympics.
He also contended that no specific condition regarding seeking prior permission to go abroad was imposed by the court while granting him bail earlier.
The CBI opposed Abhay's plea and submitted that he was no longer the IOA President and there was no public interest involved in his visit to Brazil.
The CBI also said that irrespective of whether any condition was imposed, Abhay had to seek the court's permission before leaving the country.
The court fixed September 23 as next date of hearing.
