The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will begin its probe into the murder of an RSS activist very soon, said Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh Friday.

RSS activist K.T. Manoj, was murdered Sep 1 by seven assailants.

Manoj himself was an accused in an unsuccessful bid on the life of Kannur CPI-M district secretary P. Jayarajan in 1999.

Singh visited Manoj's home and later visited the RSS office near here and said that political parties should desist from violence and should fight on ideological aspects.

The prime accused in the case is already under arrest and police are on the lookout for others.

Kerala government Sep 13 had announced a CBI probe into the murder.

The leader of opposition V.S. Achuthanandan expressed displeasure over Singh's visit to Kathirur.

"The visit of the country's home minister that has come under the directive of the RSS is deplorable," he said.
