The CBI on Thursday announced Rs 10 lakh reward for information about Najeeb Ahmed, a Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student who went missing in October last year.

"The CBI will provide Rs 10 lakh to those whose information helps in locating Najeeb Ahmed," Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) spokespersons R.K. Gaur told IANS.

The agency's move came 10 days after its officials visited the JNU campus to meet administrators and students to collect details about Ahmed.

The CBI filed a case on June 3 to probe Ahmed's mysterious disappearance following the Delhi High Court's May 16 order.

Ahmed, 27, a first year M.Sc. student, went missing from the JNU hostel on the night of October 14-15 after an alleged altercation with members of the RSS student wing ABVP. The ABVP has denied any involvement in his disappearance.
